So... here I am again!

I actually wanted to share the plan of our IKEA Metod kitchen here, but I just can't manage to link my kitchen layout.
I've tried several times now. Could someone help me?

Best regards,
Frosch

The trash bins can hold quite a lot, and organic waste should not be left standing for too long anyway.

Our trash bin system has even smaller bins than IKEA, yet it works perfectly for us, though we are only a two-person household. Ours fits into a drawer in a 50cm (20 inch) wide cabinet, and our three bins don’t even fill the space completely. But you can get various bin sizes at IKEA; I find their bins quite large.

I’m not sure how it’s handled where you are, but we have: one large bin for packaging waste (when full, it’s transferred into the yellow sack), one small bin for organic waste (which goes into the organic waste container), and another small bin for residual waste, which is the smallest amount we produce. Paper goes into a basket and then into the paper recycling bin, glass is collected in a bag (which, by chance, is an IKEA shopping bag for us) and then taken to the glass recycling container.

For us, there would also be three bins: one for organic waste (the smallest, due to odor, but the compost heap is nearby), then everything for the recycling bag, and finally the residual waste bin.
Tomorrow we’ll be at IKEA anyway, so I’ll take a closer look in person! 🙂

I’ve measured again—the wall with the disputed cabinet (60 or 80) is 2.728 meters (8 ft 11 in) long, so the 80 cm (31.5 in) one should fit.

However... a problem has come up!!
We completely forgot to measure the windowsill height... 😳 😱
Bottom edge of the windowsill: 85 cm (33.5 in) 😱
Top edge: 87 cm (34.3 in)

What now? The cabinet boxes alone are 80 cm (31.5 in) high... plus the countertop... no room for feet... that can’t work! Damn.

At what height is the bottom edge of the open window?

I have a similar problem. As the IKEA expert already mentioned, measure the distance from the bottom edge of the window sash to the floor and, if necessary, extend the countertop over the window sill.

Off the top of my head, here’s an idea: turn the challenge into an advantage by building the two rows on the right and left "normally" and running the countertops continuously up to the window front. Baseboard 7 cm (3 inches) + 80 cm (31.5 inches) cabinet = 87 cm (34 inches). Then add the countertop—its height doesn’t really matter.

Under the window, place the two cabinets, 80 cm (31.5 inches) and 60 cm (24 inches) wide, on shorter feet or a plinth, and put a 2 cm (0.8 inch) countertop on top. Then slide this countertop underneath the side countertops on the right and left, so the surfaces overlap: 5 cm (2 inches) feet + 80 cm (31.5 inches) cabinet + 2 cm (0.8 inch) countertop = 87 cm (34 inches). I don’t know which countertop you plan to use, but this could even look intentional and you would save yourself the corner joints.

I didn’t measure this exactly, wolf, but I estimate it to be around 88, max 89 centimeters (35–35.5 inches), which is quite tight near the windowsill... which I actually want to keep visible because it’s a nice granite slab!

Yesterday we decided to buy the two cabinets and shorten them to 70 centimeters (28 inches). The right side with the sink will be extended all the way to the wall, then at a right angle the lower one will also go to the wall, and then the oven side will be raised again! So, there won’t be a recess where the window is—instead, the left corner will also be lower. Do you know what I mean? My mother has a similar setup in her kitchen, and it doesn’t look bad at all.
Do you think this will work?
I really don’t like the thin countertops :/
