Hello everyone, I recently purchased some IKEA Besta furniture for my living room and am now facing the challenge of managing all the cables. The cabinets are quite compact and don’t have many openings for cable routing, but I don’t want a visible mess of cables in front of or behind the furniture. Are there any proven tips or smart solutions for neatly routing cables inside or behind IKEA Besta units? I’m especially interested in techniques or accessories that might help, as well as general recommendations for cable management to keep everything tidy and accessible. Thanks!

I love the topic of cable management! For my Bestas, I equipped the back panel with a slim cable duct and also used reusable zip ties that can be opened multiple times—super practical when you need to access the cables. Tip: Mark cables with colored tags, so you immediately know which cable belongs to which device next time you unplug something! 🎉

You’re not alone! 🙂 Here’s another tip: IKEA also offers cable grommets for their Besta units that fit neatly into pre-cut holes – not only does this look professional, but it also protects the cables. Paired with power strips that can be securely mounted inside the cabinet, it’s a great solution.

Attach cable ducts inside the furniture and drill holes in the back panel at appropriate locations. Do not bundle cables too tightly to avoid damage.

I often use cable spirals for my BESTA furniture. They make cable routing more flexible and protect the cables. Additionally, double-sided cable clips work well behind the cabinets to secure the cables.

This aspect is particularly important: besides organization, there should always be access possibilities. This means cables should not be rigidly fixed with clamps but kept flexible, so devices can be easily replaced. Additionally, modular socket systems inside the BESTA components help with future expansions.

Cable ducts that are attached to the back of the furniture – everything stays secure and looks neat.

I can only agree with that. It is important to install cable ducts cleanly along the edges to avoid damaging the furniture later and to maintain a tidy appearance. I also recommend using cable ducts with lids to reduce dust buildup.
