Hello everyone,
I have several IKEA Besta units at home that I would like to secure effectively against tipping, as there are small children in the household and safety is my top priority. I am particularly interested in which methods and products have proven to be the most reliable for ensuring stability without damaging the furniture or affecting its appearance.
What secure fastening options are available to prevent tipping when children pull or climb on the furniture? Are special wall brackets recommended, or are there other mechanisms as well?
I would appreciate concrete tips, experiences, and any advice on potential installation pitfalls. Thanks in advance!

One more question: Do you have carpet or a hard floor covering? We have laminate flooring with a very hard surface in the living room, where the Besta furniture is placed. The idea of floor fasteners sounds interesting; until now, I had only considered wall fasteners.
I can well imagine the diagonal metal brace that Jeanbar mentioned, as long as it can be installed discreetly.
@Dilen: Could you also briefly comment on the recommendations for suitable plugs and screws, especially for lightweight concrete? It would be great if you have tips, since stability is really crucial for me.
For lightweight concrete walls, cavity anchors or specialized heavy-duty anchors are the best choice. Standard universal anchors often fail under load.
Screws with metric threads (e.g., M6 or M8, depending on the fastening hole) and corresponding metal anchors that grip inside the cavity and expand when tightened are recommended.
If you want to secure not just the Besta furniture but also prioritize safety in general, invest not only in suitable anchors but also in high-quality screws. Cheap wire hooks or plastic climbing holds are not sufficiently safe for children.

For added safety, you can use floor clamps to secure the furniture to the floor, similar to cable ties but more stable and screwed in.This is a good additional measure if the flooring allows it. However, it can be problematic with laminate flooring, as it may damage the material. The focus should therefore be on secure wall anchoring.
Another tip: avoid placing heavy items on top of the furniture, as this increases the risk of tipping. Better weight distribution significantly reduces the risk.

And last but not least, it is generally important to educate children about the dangers and to avoid using furniture as climbing objects.
