ᐅ We are gathering ideas for floor plans – still at the very beginning of the process.

Hello everyone,

we are currently brainstorming ideas, drawing floor plans back and forth, and so on... basically at the very beginning.

I’m very curious about what unusual features you have incorporated into your homes. Any special elements, gadgets, functions, custom furniture, appliances, etc., where you thought, "I have to have this, no matter what."

I’m asking because over the weekend, I randomly came up with an idea where I exactly had that thought (I have to have it). I had never seen anything like it before, but when I started searching online, I quickly realized that such things already exist – honestly, I would have been surprised if I hadn’t found anything. Over the weekend, we visited an indoor playground with giant trampolines. Our floor plan includes a fairly large open space near the entrance, and I thought about putting a trampoline there. But I quickly dismissed the idea because jumping would make the ceiling feel too close. Then I remembered those safety nets often seen on construction sites, which can also be used as huge hammocks. I think that’s very cool, and if you search for "hammock net indoors," you’ll find some pictures.

I think there are so many cool things like this already out there, but you just don't think of them.
I’m excited to hear what you have incorporated into your homes.
If you want, feel free to upload 1-2 pictures.

Thanks and best regards,
sebisanu

Our Christmas decorations use LED lights. They no longer need a power plug.

I don’t think anyone will top that.

The window outlets also sound practical, so you don’t end up with extension cords everywhere (for Christmas decorations). If my wife hears about that, she’ll definitely want it ^^

I’m really looking forward to your many ideas!

I don’t think so at all... I had those installed everywhere as well. Then you add a timer switch or a remote control socket, and suddenly you can’t open the window without causing damage. I had to seriously train all the women and children to be careful there... I would have preferred to have them installed closer to the window reveal. Somehow, I find it inconvenient that way.

You mean, battery-powered?

With a bus system, at least the issue of remote-controlled outlets blocking the window shouldn’t occur. However, my wife couldn’t warm up to the idea of outlets installed inside the window reveal. She said roughly what Alex85 mentioned earlier—that most decorations nowadays use LEDs and batteries anyway. I don’t find the outlets in the reveal particularly attractive either.

Personally, I was happy because that means there are more outlets left for me elsewhere. But I definitely don’t have anywhere near 64 outlets in one room—that’s quite a number.

I think we have around 64 outlets for the entire ground floor, and I don’t think we were being particularly frugal. That said, I’m not really happy with the solution in the living room. Having 6 to 8 outlets combined with double LAN and double satellite sockets around the TV lowboard area seems borderline, but it is what it is—the technology requires it. Also, power strips will no longer go inside, on top of, or underneath the lowboard, especially if it’s a wall-mounted unit. The cluster of outlets isn’t exactly visually appealing either.

How many outlets do you have around your TV? And how have you arranged them? All in a row or in two rows?

Is it really that unusual to place a power strip inside the media console and connect the devices contained within it?
It’s not as if such a strip has to lie on the floor.

A good idea, although I only came across it after the walls had already been plastered...
For me, it was important to have HDMI/power for the projector on the ceiling, a retractable screen, speaker sockets built into the walls, and many LAN outlets. The number of power outlets ended up at 120, and it shouldn’t be any less than that.
And then the “MUST-HAVES,” which are almost standard by now: a mechanical ventilation system with heat and moisture recovery, efficient heating – underfloor heating, rain shower, sauna in the bathroom, many large skylights, a fireplace for cozy winter evenings, and so on.
One MUST-HAVE that unfortunately didn’t make it in the end was the photovoltaic system.
