Hello everyone,
we are currently brainstorming ideas, drawing floor plans back and forth, and so on... basically at the very beginning.
I’m very curious about what unusual features you have incorporated into your homes. Any special elements, gadgets, functions, custom furniture, appliances, etc., where you thought, "I have to have this, no matter what."
I’m asking because over the weekend, I randomly came up with an idea where I exactly had that thought (I have to have it). I had never seen anything like it before, but when I started searching online, I quickly realized that such things already exist – honestly, I would have been surprised if I hadn’t found anything. Over the weekend, we visited an indoor playground with giant trampolines. Our floor plan includes a fairly large open space near the entrance, and I thought about putting a trampoline there. But I quickly dismissed the idea because jumping would make the ceiling feel too close. Then I remembered those safety nets often seen on construction sites, which can also be used as huge hammocks. I think that’s very cool, and if you search for "hammock net indoors," you’ll find some pictures.
I think there are so many cool things like this already out there, but you just don't think of them.
I’m excited to hear what you have incorporated into your homes.
If you want, feel free to upload 1-2 pictures.
Thanks and best regards,
sebisanu

Christmas lights only with a power outlet, batteries are annoying. Wax candles. Christmas has to be analog.

About the window sockets: I don't find them attractive at all. The standard Christmas decoration has a fixed cable attached, I guess about 1.5m (5 feet)? And they then hang permanently between the decorations and the socket in front of the window. Either swinging around like a jungle gym or tangled up into a thick mess. That’s not very appealing. A cable neatly routed along the window frame down to the socket looks much better.

If it makes you happy Well, I wouldn’t exactly call it making me happy... [emoji23]
But then don’t ask next time how others have it. Apparently, some manage very well with less than you have Why shouldn’t I ask? I didn’t respond aggressively but just shared my outlet setup transparently and opened it for discussion. It wasn’t directed against your 3-outlet strategy [emoji4]
And nowadays Christmas lights even have built-in timers—so no one has to walk around anymore I actually didn’t know that. It’s definitely not my area of expertise, so thanks for the tip [emoji1303]

Regarding the window power outlets:... I can't quite picture it: Are they installed in the window reveal or in the window sill duct? Where exactly should I imagine them?https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/

... I’m having trouble picturing it: is it in the jamb or in the window sill channel? Where exactly should I imagine it?I believe, if anywhere, it would be in the window jamb—that is, on the inside side of the exterior wall.
When I first read about it here years ago, I thought it was a great idea. But we decided against it. For one, I don’t consider power outlets very decorative anyway, and secondly: you’d first need to have windows like that today, as well as “window lighting.”
We don’t have anything like that at all, and window sills are rare in our home.
@ruppsn: absolutely great. These LED candles also come with timers: they burn for 6 hours every day at the same time. It’s not that I’m giving up real candles, but in homes with pets and children they are a good alternative, also suitable for niches or shelves.

Our Christmas decorations have LEDs. No need for a plug anymore. We completely avoid decorations. We don’t need ugly sockets in the window or batteries [emoji38]
