Hello everyone,
we are currently brainstorming ideas, drawing floor plans back and forth, and so on... basically at the very beginning.
I’m very curious about what unusual features you have incorporated into your homes. Any special elements, gadgets, functions, custom furniture, appliances, etc., where you thought, "I have to have this, no matter what."
I’m asking because over the weekend, I randomly came up with an idea where I exactly had that thought (I have to have it). I had never seen anything like it before, but when I started searching online, I quickly realized that such things already exist – honestly, I would have been surprised if I hadn’t found anything. Over the weekend, we visited an indoor playground with giant trampolines. Our floor plan includes a fairly large open space near the entrance, and I thought about putting a trampoline there. But I quickly dismissed the idea because jumping would make the ceiling feel too close. Then I remembered those safety nets often seen on construction sites, which can also be used as huge hammocks. I think that’s very cool, and if you search for "hammock net indoors," you’ll find some pictures.
I think there are so many cool things like this already out there, but you just don't think of them.
I’m excited to hear what you have incorporated into your homes.
If you want, feel free to upload 1-2 pictures.
Thanks and best regards,
sebisanu

- Elevator to the first floor (for firewood, heavy items, possibly people ^^)
- Walk-through utility shower in the laundry room
- Laundry shed with retractable drying rack that moves up and down (this allows easy access underneath even when fully loaded, and to reach items stored farther back)
- Small kitchenette with sink, 2-burner ceramic cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, and table with two chairs next to the living room (located on the first floor; the main kitchen is on the ground floor)

- Laundry shed with a retractable clothesline (so you can still walk comfortably underneath even when fully loaded and access items stored further back) Do you already have that? If so, please share a photo.

- Walk-through shower to remove dirt in the laundry room What exactly does that mean?

Yes, the laundry shed has been in use like this for about 3 years now. I will share a photo when I get the chance.
The mud shower is quite simple and nothing special: dirty in on one side and clean out on the other ^^ Two walls, two glass doors. But I hope it will be very useful, considering all the gardening and renovation work – at the moment, we still use the shower upstairs, and sometimes it leaves a nice trail of dirt through the house.

Thank you for your great ideas!
As expected, there are many practical aspects that one doesn’t think about at all.
I find the "mud shower" amusing, but if it’s well placed inside the house, it’s definitely useful.
Metal strips in the wall – brilliant and basically free. I will definitely do that.
An elevator inside the house – I’ve always thought that was great, but it probably won’t be affordable. What does something like that cost, if I may ask? Of course, you can probably spend tens of thousands, but where is an entry-level option that actually works?
All the ideas are really cool!

Gross cost around €25,000 (entry-level “homelift” segment) up to around €40,000 (high-end models)
