Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a Faktum kitchen and a few questions have come up:

1. In the online planner, it is possible to select a plinth height of 21 cm (8 inches) for the RENLIG dishwashers – are the current models actually height-adjustable, or is this an error in the planner?

2. According to the product information, the RENLIG DWTI60 is about 4 cm (1.5 inches) taller than the DW60 – are both models still designed for a countertop height of 90 cm (35 inches)? If so, how is this 4 cm (1.5 inches) height difference compensated, considering both appliances apparently use the same front panel size?

3. Can the built-in extractor hoods be installed in any wall cabinet with the appropriate width, or do the special extractor hood cabinets need to be used?

4. Is it possible to mount a plinth on the Capita legs as well? I would prefer that for stability reasons instead of the plastic Faktum legs.

Best regards

Hello everyone,

I am currently planning a FAKTUM kitchen and have a few questions:

1. The online planner allows selecting a plinth height of 21 cm (8 inches) for the RENLIG dishwasher—is the current model really height-adjustable, or is this a planner error?

No, they are adjustable in height, but not down to 21 cm (8 inches). Something needs to be built underneath to raise it to the top of the plinth.

2. According to the product information, the RENLIG DWTI60 is about 4 cm (1.5 inches) taller than the DW60—are both models still designed for a countertop height of 90 cm (35.5 inches)? If so, how is the 4 cm height difference compensated, especially since both seem to use the same size front panel?

It is true that the TI is taller; it actually has the correct height of 86 cm (34 inches) and only needs to be slid under the countertop. The standard DW60 must be adjusted in height using its leveling feet. By the way, the extra height in the TI mainly benefits the interior, allowing for more space inside.

3. Can built-in extractor hoods be installed under all wall cabinets of the matching width, or must the special extractor hood cabinets be used?

In principle, extractor hoods fit under all 60 cm (24 inches) wide wall cabinets. The extractor hood cabinets are smaller to maintain the minimum distance to the cooktop, which is a safety requirement. For ceramic cooktops, I believe this is about 65 cm (26 inches), and for gas cooktops around 75 cm (30 inches). Please check the planner carefully for these distances. If you maintain the distance using standard 70 or 92 cm (28 or 36 inches) cabinets, you should avoid display cabinets with the Airtight hoods because all the technology and the exhaust pipe INSIDE the cabinet would be visible, which looks unpleasant. Also, you always need the exhaust hose with these hoods, even if you're using recirculation mode, as otherwise the filtered air would circulate inside the cabinet.

4. Is it possible to mount a plinth on CAPITA legs (I prefer that for stability over the plastic FAKTUM legs)?

No, a plinth cannot be mounted because the attachment points only fit the plastic legs. However, the plastic legs are perfectly fine—you can always use them in a “standard” kitchen setup. Just make sure each cabinet has four legs, as the planner often miscalculates this. If you are planning an island or similar, you need to plan additional supports. IKEA does not have a 100% solution for this.

Hello,
Bosch, for example, recommends a minimum distance of 43 cm (17 inches) for electric cooktops and 65 cm (26 inches) or 70 cm (28 inches) for gas cooktops (with a range hood featuring automatic operation). Besides the safety clearance, you should also consider that the hood can be in the way if it is mounted too low. This naturally depends on your height and personal habits (for example, whether you tend to lean over the cooktop to check pots at the back). You should try out what works best for you in kitchen showrooms.

Thank you both – I really didn’t expect such quick and thorough answers 🙂

Nayla, I’ve also noticed the number of legs in the planner – although the assembly instructions for the legs apparently specify that depending on the position of the base cabinet, only 1 to 3 legs are installed, with the back of the cabinets resting on a wall rail. I’ll make sure to check whether the planner actually calculates enough legs for me.

Regarding the range hood, I need to test what the ideal distance would be for me. If I choose an 80cm (31½ inches) cooktop, the 60cm (23½ inches) built-in variants are not an option anyway.

Hello again,

During further planning, I just noticed something:

On Ikea.com, not all countertops listed in the printed catalog are shown anymore. For example, there are only three PRÄGEL variants available, the rest are missing.

Is this an error, or have they actually been discontinued?

Hi,

no, not that many were removed. As far as I know, only 2 items, but there are still some remaining stocks. This is certainly only related to the catalog update on September 1st. So just keep using the catalog and the kitchen planner. Both are still largely up to date.
