Since you are the second person after the OP to mention the shower comment... it’s not about being walk-in, but about splash water. 1.2 m (4 feet) is simply not enough to keep splash water confined to the shower area. We currently have a depth of 1.5 m (5 feet) and water still splashes out. If you have the option in a new build, I recommend this as a minimum and would actually suggest closer to 2 m (6.5 feet).

My wife could shower in a 70 x 70 cm (28 x 28 inch) area without the shower wall getting wet. For me, even 2 meters (6.5 feet) wouldn’t be enough. Open showers feel cold. I always prefer a closed door.

@TE Every homeowner has gotten used to every floor plan and added their personal touch, no matter how much it was received in the forum. Praise for floor plans here only comes every two years. I wish you lots of fun building. What is the cost estimate? That would interest me.

I have also received a lot of criticism but was equally inspired by it. In the end, we moved in happy and are pleased with the design details that work.

We shower in the bathtub, which is about 70cm x 160cm (28 inches x 63 inches). The shower spray comes from one end of the long side, and at the other short end we keep the towels. They have never gotten wet. The towels are about 1.2m (4 feet) away. Of course, if the drain is clogged, water can sometimes spread on the floor, but splashing onto the towels should not happen.

Neighbors also have an entire room dedicated to a wardrobe. Unusual, but not bad. There is really enough space. You can store a stroller, ride-on car, tricycle, and more inside. Everything stays warm and dry, even for guests. I already find our wardrobe quite spacious, but something is always in the way.

Tricycle??? I must have missed some fundamental shift in meaning. To me, a "cloakroom" means one coat hook per person, plus an umbrella stand and maybe a shelf for scarves and hats. Of course, you can also design a huge entrance area with a beach chair and a tap system so the party can start right there—but what does that still have to do with a "cloakroom"?

And shoes? What about shoe cleaning supplies? Where do I put my bag? And the mirror? Keys need a spot too. No, no, no. Three hooks would never be enough for me.

Shoes and clothes: everyday items go in the hallway closet, the rest in the dressing room. Handbag goes in the hallway, clutch collection in the dressing room, briefcase in the home office. Shoe cleaning supplies belong in the utility room. A place to put the keys—maybe a large fruit bowl if you use not only a sedan and station wagon but also a convertible, quad bike, and motorhome every day. The Bobbycar is keyless go.
