Hi!
In our new build, there is a provision for a satellite system as well as multiple satellite outlets in every room. Now I’m wondering, is that really necessary? Will my children ever watch anything on free-to-air TV?
My children and I mainly watch Netflix/Amazon, and only my wife occasionally watches crime shows on free-to-air TV.

So my thought is to skip the whole satellite setup and instead install more LAN ports...

How have you handled this?

Today it was (unfortunately) clearly demonstrated that IPTV/streaming cannot replace traditional satellite TV.

The picture quality of DAZN during the Bayern-Ajax match was terrible. It immediately took me back to my student days, when I couldn’t afford SKY and had to watch football on my laptop through questionable websites.

Well... you wouldn’t have been able to watch that game on free-to-air TV anyway!

True, but that doesn’t change the fact that (at least live) streams cannot replace regular TV.

Of course they can. Technically, there is absolutely nothing preventing it. It’s more a matter of willingness and permission.

Yes, when it comes to live streams, I definitely agree with you!

For years, I have been watching HD TV in the living room and bedroom via Zattoo and Apple TV, and in the new building, I will only install network cabling. If necessary, a satellite dish can be mounted on the garage later and upgraded using Sat>IP.
