ᐅ Is a "Free TV" Connection Still Worth It?

Hi!
In our new build, there is a provision for a satellite system as well as multiple satellite outlets in every room. Now I’m wondering, is that really necessary? Will my children ever watch anything on free-to-air TV?
My children and I mainly watch Netflix/Amazon, and only my wife occasionally watches crime shows on free-to-air TV.

So my thought is to skip the whole satellite setup and instead install more LAN ports...

How have you handled this?

I wouldn’t necessarily include Wi-Fi in this discussion. One thing has nothing to do with the other. One is about how, the other about what. Wi-Fi is just a means to access the internet, not to make TV usage acceptable.

Wi-Fi is a crutch for getting online

Oh? Did you even read my post?
With the latest standards, it’s definitely not a crutch anymore, at least that’s what I wanted to point out.

Yes, did you understand mine?

It is still a workaround. Within a single floor, it might be acceptable, but beyond the concrete ceiling, there is hardly any reliable signal left. For a mobile phone or laptop, that might be fine, and even for a TV located right next to the access point. But otherwise? It’s just a makeshift solution.

No, not really :-P
You just deny my latest experience... (I stream Full HD over WiFi) without providing any other arguments.

But anyway, other readers will be able to draw their own conclusions.

Within a single floor that might still work

That was also my experience until 2018, but now—because of 5GHz? new hardware? software? drivers? 802.11n?—I can get the full 200GB over Wi-Fi even on the upper floor, although the access point is on the ground floor...

As I said, I was surprised too, which is why I wrote that.
