Hello,

Has anyone here installed vinyl flooring themselves, and if so, how did it go?

We want to install vinyl planks in our house and have already chosen them. I will contact the seller again soon, but I would be happy to read some personal experiences here!

It depends on the surface of the floor. There are smooth and grained surfaces.

Correct, the key factor is the coating layer, meaning the surface sealant.
The more wood grain pattern there is, the harder it is to clean.

Exactly, the quality of the vinyl flooring and especially the aforementioned surface sealant are crucial. Compare a cheap vinyl floor with a grain or textured surface to a high-quality one. You can clearly feel the difference when running your hand over it. It is definitely advisable to use a cleaning product recommended by the respective manufacturer.

I use a vinyl floor cleaner because it was highly recommended to us after the complaint.

And which one is it?

I don’t fully agree with Sigi. It depends on the surface of the floor. There are smooth and patterned finishes. The more wood grain texture it has, the harder it is to clean by wiping.
For this reason, we recently bought a vacuum mop. Over time, cleaning vinyl the traditional way became too tiring for me.
I recommend trying samples first.

What exactly is a vacuum mop? Could you share which one you have?

Best regards,
Sabine

It is the Philips Aqua Trio. You can find more information in the thread about robot vacuum cleaners.

Isn't that kind of wet for the floor when using this vacuum mop?

No, it remains a very thin film that dries quickly. It's like wiping with a misty damp cloth.
