Hello,

Has anyone here installed vinyl flooring themselves, and if so, how did it go?

We want to install vinyl planks in our house and have already chosen them. I will contact the seller again soon, but I would be happy to read some personal experiences here!

I’ll take some measurements first, then we’ll see how to proceed. Thanks for the tip about the profile.

There are so many colors available for silicone; I can’t imagine you won’t find anything suitable.

Our floor has a lot of character, so just one color isn’t enough.

Adding it afterward might be difficult because most tracks consist of a base section that the floor rests on, and the top section is then screwed or snapped onto it.

Anything else probably won’t hold up over time. And I wouldn’t dare screw it directly into the screed, especially with underfloor heating *g*

Yes, that is possible—and screws in the floor are not an issue either. I know exactly where the pipes are located, and I also have at least 5cm (2 inches) of coverage.

I would find it too risky. Although the chances of a pipe being slightly loosened in those spots are minimal, I wouldn’t take that risk. That’s why we glued the mounting strips as well.

However, you will very likely not be able to reinstall the profiles with the mounting strips afterwards without additional work.

Why? Lift it up and put it in...

Usually, only the door frame gets in the way when lifting it.
