Hello,

Has anyone here installed vinyl flooring themselves, and if so, how did it go?

We want to install vinyl planks in our house and have already chosen them. I will contact the seller again soon, but I would be happy to read some personal experiences here!

Back then, I was told something similar: under direct sunlight, which is usually in the living-dining area, you shouldn’t install vinyl flooring as a floating floor because it expands too much and can buckle at the edges. I once left a plank in the sun as a test, and it actually warped. That’s why I decided to go with glued-down vinyl instead, and so far I haven’t had any problems with it.

So, we installed Parador vinyl flooring throughout the entire upper floor, including in every room with floor-to-ceiling windows. The floor has hardly warmed up in recent weeks, and there are no signs of bulging or significant expansion. It still lies perfectly flat.

It is often said that it can be done, but it doesn’t have to be.

With floor-to-ceiling windows facing south, always be cautious. From my experience, some manufacturers only allow a floor temperature of up to 28°C (82°F) for vinyl flooring installed as a floating floor.

This can cause problems. Therefore, it is essential to maintain proper perimeter gaps.

We also have laminate boards with a vinyl surface and are very satisfied so far.
