Hello,

Has anyone here installed vinyl flooring themselves, and if so, how did it go?

We want to install vinyl planks in our house and have already chosen them. I will contact the seller again soon, but I would be happy to read some personal experiences here!

That’s exactly what I also wanted to measure afterward to see how the transitions in the bathroom / WC, entrance door, etc. turn out. Maybe that will already decide it.

Also take into account the height of transition and finishing profiles. For example, finishing profiles used for transitions onto tile flooring add an additional 1-2mm (0.04-0.08 inches).

I didn’t use any finishing trims because I found them unattractive.

How did you handle the expansion joints then?

With silicone

I'm curious to see how it will look in a few years. But then you just have to replace the sealant. I wouldn't have been able to find a suitable silicone color for our floor coverings anyway.

Alright, then I’ll have to replace them. I can still install rails on top of that.

There are so many colors available for the silicone, I can’t imagine you wouldn’t find one you like.

I also used very high-quality alcohol-cured silicone.
