Hello everyone,
I am planning to install a RUTINERAD oven in the Metod tall cabinet. The cable length is specified as 82 cm (32 inches), which might be a bit too short for the power outlet, depending on the height where the cable exits the back of the oven. If I wanted to adjust the power outlet accordingly, quite a few tiles on the wall would have to be removed... Can someone tell me exactly where the cable is fixed on the oven and/or if the cable can be replaced by an electrician? The electrician will come anyway to make the final connection.
Second question: How much space do you need between the ceiling and the top edge of the cabinet for wall cabinets to hang them properly? I would like to have the 100 cm (39 inches) tall wall cabinets, but the kitchen ceiling height is only 2.50 m (8 ft 2 in).
Thanks a lot!

IKEA-Experte4 May 2015 18:10On one hand, the question is whether the distance referred to is between the cabinet or the rail and the ceiling; on the other hand, IKEA has to consider as many scenarios as possible. Without knowing the overall plan, some factors may be overlooked. For example, when installing a built-in recirculation range hood, more space is needed above the cabinet for the air outlet, or for a gas cooktop, the clearance to the upper cabinets must be at least 65 cm (26 inches).
In step 11 of the assembly instructions, you can see two spacers that are mounted at the bottom of the cabinet. If you omit these, it could compensate for the offset of the tile backsplash. If the tile backsplash is too thick, something will need to be placed under the hanging rail as well.

Yes, that’s probably true...
Thanks, I hadn’t seen point 11 yet. Otherwise, I still have a suitable wooden strip in the right length and thickness from the old Ikea kitchen... maybe the Metod rail can be mounted on that?
Funny, IKEA expert, are you also from Frankfurt am Main??

The strip used for support should be at least as wide as the rail (about 6 cm (2.5 inches)). Then it won’t be a problem.

Cool, then you probably visit the Ikea in Nieder Eschbach from time to time.
Yesterday, I bought a rail and a wall cabinet to see if and how it might fit. If I set the distance between the countertop and the bottom of the wall cabinet to 50 cm (20 inches) — I’m quite short — then I have 8 cm (3 inches) of space left to the ceiling. That should definitely be enough for hanging it up.
The Metod rail is about 1 cm (0.4 inches) thick, but unfortunately, my tile backsplash is 1.5 cm (0.6 inches).
I will get a wooden rail 0.5 cm (0.2 inches) thick, in the required length and 6 m (20 feet) wide, which should work out.
Cheers

If you want to use cover panels, keep in mind that they will no longer align perfectly with the front or that there will be a gap towards the wall. This issue does not occur if you replace the spacers at the bottom.
