Hello everyone,

I am planning to install a RUTINERAD oven in the Metod tall cabinet. The cable length is specified as 82 cm (32 inches), which might be a bit too short for the power outlet, depending on the height where the cable exits the back of the oven. If I wanted to adjust the power outlet accordingly, quite a few tiles on the wall would have to be removed... Can someone tell me exactly where the cable is fixed on the oven and/or if the cable can be replaced by an electrician? The electrician will come anyway to make the final connection.

Second question: How much space do you need between the ceiling and the top edge of the cabinet for wall cabinets to hang them properly? I would like to have the 100 cm (39 inches) tall wall cabinets, but the kitchen ceiling height is only 2.50 m (8 ft 2 in).

Thanks a lot!

Hello,

the user manual of the RUTINERAD oven states:

Power cable:
Compatible cable types for installation or replacement: H07 RN-F, H05 RN-F, H05 RRF, H05 VV-F, H05 V2V2-F (T90), H05 BB-F

Therefore, replacing the cable should not be a problem.

The upper cabinets basically only need enough space to be hung on the rail, so approximately 2cm (1 inch).

If the clearance to the ceiling is really that tight, you need to check beforehand whether unevenness in the floor and ceiling might reduce the distance too much. I cannot say to what extent 2 cm (1 inch) is sufficient for ventilation when installing appliances in a tall cabinet.

Yes, I will do that. If necessary, I’ll hang the cabinets 1cm (0.4 inches) lower since I’m quite short anyway.
The tall cabinet where the oven will go is only 2.20m (7 feet 3 inches), so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Best regards

Me again... Ikea has finally responded to my question about the upper cabinets and the required clearance. They say I need at least 10 cm (4 inches) of space if I hang them using the rail system. I can’t really imagine that, since the mounting holes aren’t in the middle of the cabinet, are they? I would have expected more like 2 cm (0.8 inches).

One more question: if the tile backsplash doesn’t reach up to the top edge of the cabinet, do I need to install a separate spacer strip in between? In my old kitchen, I did that, but the cabinets were mounted directly against the strip and the wall.
