Hello everyone, I am currently planning a new kitchen setup using the Ikea Metod cabinets and want to make it especially child-friendly, as we have young children at home. My specific question is: What safety measures do you recommend to make Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets childproof? I am particularly interested in how to securely lock cabinets and drawers without significantly limiting their functionality. Are there proven products or tricks that specifically apply to the Metod series? I look forward to detailed experiences and tips that go beyond basic advice.

using magnetic child safety locks How exactly do these magnetic child safety locks work? Do you need a special key or tool to open them? And can they be hidden in the Metod kitchen so they are not visible?

Our bestseller here: magnetic locks that can only be opened with a small key. That sounds exactly like what I am looking for.
Magnetic child safety locks consist of two parts: a latch is installed on the inside of the door or drawer, and the magnet is operated with a key (a special magnetic tool) to unlock the latch. The advantage is that it remains invisible from the outside of the furniture front.
The benefit with Metod: The smooth surfaces allow for discreet installation without visible clips or latches.

Thank you for the recommendations! I will focus on magnetic child safety locks, as they seem to offer the best combination of security and design flexibility. One last point: Does anyone have experience with how these installations affect renovations or furniture replacement? Can everything be removed without residue, or should I expect damage to the Metod fronts?
