Hello,
Due to structural constraints, only a 45cm (18 inch) dishwasher fits in my kitchen. It needs to be placed at the edge, so the countertop must be able to rest there. A freestanding unit is also not ideal because that would reduce my countertop space to almost nothing. Since Ikea only offers one model and there are very few user experiences available, I am turning to you in the hope of getting answers to two questions.
1) Has anyone installed a medium-sized dishwasher and can share their experience?
2) The required height must be 880mm (35 inches), if I have understood correctly based on the 60cm (24 inch) dishwashers. Are there any alternatives at this height? So far, I haven’t found any; all seemed too low. Whether the dishwasher is under-counter, fully integrated, or semi-integrated does not really matter to me.
3) And a bonus question: Is there any reason not to use the VINDIG range hood in recirculation mode?
Thank you very much in advance.

3. The noise level.

IKEA-Experte24 Apr 2016 20:12Almost forgot, the countertop must not rest on the dishwasher. You need to build a support panel or, if there is a wall next to it, fix a support beam to the wall on which the countertop can rest.
Assuming I choose the Medelstor:
Since the room has a very wide L-shape and the kitchen sticks out a bit, I will need an end panel at the very edge anyway. Is that enough as a support panel? Or does the Medelstor already come with one?
Also, what exactly is a support panel? This is the first time I’ve heard that term.
From what I understand (after a bit of googling), it’s just a piece of wood that supports the countertop so it doesn’t rest directly on the dishwasher.
Attaching it to the wall isn’t an option since the wall is tiled and, unfortunately, the apartment isn’t mine.

Since the room has a very wide L-shape and the kitchen protrudes a bit, I need an end panel at the very edge anyway. Is that enough as a support panel?Yes, it needs to be cut to the right size.
Or does the Medelstor come with one included? No.

From what I gathered after some googling, I imagine it as a piece of wood that supports the countertop so it doesn’t rest on the dishwasher.
