Hello everyone,
We are currently considering the lighting for the worktop. Since we have only one upper cabinet, we plan to use the URail track system from Paulmann.
Maybe some of you have experience with this system.
If so, I would appreciate it if you could answer the following questions:
- Which spotlights do you use?
- Does the lighting sufficiently illuminate the worktop?
We planned to position the track 30cm (12 inches) from the front edge of the worktop. Is that correct?
If possible, could you also share some pictures so I can see how you have set it up?
Thank you.
Best regards,
Birgit

Roughly speaking, we have installed a 3-watt spot for every meter (3.3 feet) of countertop. Some are "integrated" by Paulmann themselves, while others are the cheapest spots equipped with LED bulbs.
In addition, we have area lights for the wall and pendant lamps over the dining table. This is very easy and affordable using Paulmann’s universal adapter.
The same rule applies for positioning the rail as it does for financing: always right on the edge!
So the spots should be exactly above the front edge of the countertop. If placed further back, shadows are cast; if placed further forward, you can’t see inside the drawers.
