ᐅ IKEA Freestanding Dishwasher Disappointment

Hello,

I was actually looking forward to the new IKEA Enastaende dishwasher because my 10-year-old Siemens machine always had issues with drying when there was some plastic dishware in the dishwasher. That always had to be dried by hand, but at least the porcelain was completely dry... even if I hadn’t used rinse aid for two weeks.

And now with the Enastaende? It has only run twice so far, and not only was the plastic wet, but many spots on the porcelain were also damp. This is supposed to be drying class "A"? Can anyone confirm the drying results?

I am really astonished that the results from 10-year-old machines are better than those of current 600 euro machines from IKEA... and I still have to dry every other item by hand.

At first, I didn’t use any rinse aid because apparently the multi-tab function makes it unnecessary, and then I tried with rinse aid, but I couldn’t notice any significant difference.

I can confirm exactly the same.
The drying performance leaves much to be desired.

I have been using the appliance for 4 weeks (1 month) now.
The customer service came and confirmed that everything is fine.

Cutlery and some glasses have water spots, even though the multi-tab indicator is off and both salt and rinse aid are being used—high quality ones.

I have to say, the technician was very friendly and mentioned, among other things, that many appliances aim for good energy efficiency and therefore reduce energy consumption, which in turn affects drying performance, as that's the only way to be more economical.

We have the feeling that it is always damp inside.

Hello everyone!

Since May 2014, I have had this dishwasher as well. I have not been satisfied from the very beginning. Dishes come out dirty, the detergent tablets are not dissolved by the end of the wash cycle, the dishes are not dry, and they have a greasy film on them. Inside the machine, it is still "wet" after the cycle.

What I noticed is that the machine constantly draws water during the wash cycle. I realized this when I checked my water meter. It kept running even though no other appliances were in use.

Now, I don’t want to think about how much electricity was wasted.

This would of course explain why "constantly drawing water means constantly heating and never reaching the correct temperature," which results in dirty and wet dishes.

Yesterday, I called the service department, and a technician will only come on September 29, 2014. I am curious to see how this will turn out.

Best regards, Elleparte

Please be so kind and share your report here.

I am very interested in this.
The technician also came to my place, measured everything, etc.
He said everything was okay.

If you hear the detergent tablet being removed from the dispenser during the washing cycle, open the dishwasher door while it is still running and check the
- water level
- water temperature
Usually, the water should be at the temperature according to the program, and there should be a visible water level in the lower part of the dishwasher. However, the water level can be somewhat below the heating element; this is still acceptable.

Some time ago, Stiftung Warentest mentioned this drying issue briefly in a dishwasher detergent test.

Apart from the dishwasher itself, the drying performance of plastics compared to porcelain also seems to depend on the dishwasher detergent used.

However, if the Ikea dishwasher dries even worse than your previous one, that would be a reason for me to consider exchanging it.

Now the technician was on site!
As expected, he told me that the machine has no technical defect. However, he clearly pointed out that energy-saving features (common to all manufacturers) lead to poor washing and drying results. He advised me to avoid using the automatic wash cycle and to use only the 70°C (158°F) wash cycle to achieve a good washing result. The automatic wash cycle should only be used for "very lightly" soiled dishes.
My objection, “I bought an expensive dishwasher to save energy and achieve good washing results,” was dismissed and laughed off as impossible. He confirmed that I was misled by the description of the machine. Obviously, he was annoyed by the many complaints he has to handle.
I told him about my dishwasher in a second home, which cost €180.00 new, manufactured in China. That machine washes and dries perfectly but has an energy rating of “C.”
Now everyone can decide for themselves which is better.
