placebo762 Jun 2014 16:03Hello,
I was actually looking forward to the new IKEA Enastaende dishwasher because my 10-year-old Siemens machine always had issues with drying when there was some plastic dishware in the dishwasher. That always had to be dried by hand, but at least the porcelain was completely dry... even if I hadn’t used rinse aid for two weeks.
And now with the Enastaende? It has only run twice so far, and not only was the plastic wet, but many spots on the porcelain were also damp. This is supposed to be drying class "A"? Can anyone confirm the drying results?
I am really astonished that the results from 10-year-old machines are better than those of current 600 euro machines from IKEA... and I still have to dry every other item by hand.
At first, I didn’t use any rinse aid because apparently the multi-tab function makes it unnecessary, and then I tried with rinse aid, but I couldn’t notice any significant difference.

Did you use the energy-saving function or try it without?
Plastic parts almost never dry completely. Apparently, this only works with Siemens/Bosch machines that have zeolite drying.
For porcelain, I would also expect everything to be dry. With my old Bosch, it's only wet if water from plastic parts or spray arms drips on it when pulling out the basket.

Check the dosage carefully or try setting a higher dosage as a test and run a wash cycle without plastic dishes.
Also, the dishwasher should fill with cold water inside (at the bottom) at the start of the drying process to help the hot air condense better. You could verify this by briefly opening the door at that moment and looking inside.

miss-marple3 Jun 2014 14:29Hello Placebo,
I can’t comment on the Enastaende, but in general, newer dishwashers seem to dry less effectively than older models. Even the zeolite drying feature on my mother’s machine wasn’t very impressive. To achieve good energy ratings, it seems that many manufacturers reduce the temperatures in the rinse cycle. Where the rinse used to be at 70°C (158°F), it’s now often only 60°C (140°F) or lower. On the other hand, you will notice the difference on your electricity bill with the new machine.
Do you still have a return option? Maybe you could exchange the old machine due to poor drying performance and get a new one at a better price. The Enastaende was quite well tested by StiWa, after all.
Best regards

IKEA-Experte3 Jun 2014 14:55Appliances are not easily replaced. IKEA initially refers customers to their service department. Only if the technician confirms that the appliance is irreparably broken will it be replaced.
