Hello everyone!

I found a lot of helpful information here when planning my Faktum kitchen back then – many thanks for all the great posts. Now, however, I have a question myself…

I want to modify my Faktum kitchen a bit and buy a 233cm (92 inches) tall cabinet (with a 21.7cm (8.5 inches) plinth) to install a 178cm (70 inches) refrigerator with a 35cm (14 inches) compartment above it.

Unfortunately, the 217cm (85 inches) cabinet frame is no longer available through the official after-sales service. However, there is someone privately offering me a 217cm (85 inches) cabinet frame. Unfortunately, it is only a pure tall cabinet with shelves (FA 511). Can I still use that cabinet frame and adapt it for the refrigerator? Are the drill holes on the 217cm (85 inches) cabinet frame always the same and only the back panel and shelves differ?

Thanks for your help!!

Hello,
take a close look at the installation instructions; they should answer your questions.
I would use the refrigerator without the cabinet until it is available again.

Hello Ikea expert,

What I notice as differences is that the two carcasses differ in the back panel, and that the bracket attaching the carcass to the wall behind is positioned at the top instead of in the middle. Also, I saw that no ventilation grille is planned. If I’m seeing this correctly, the drill holes for doors and shelves seem to be the same – right?

For your information: I left out all back panels from the kitchen cabinets – meaning you can see the wall behind directly. The reason was that I moved into a new build where residual moisture had to escape from the plaster. So back panels don’t matter to me anyway. What’s important is that I can properly place a shelf above the refrigerator for the 60cm x 35cm (24in x 14in) door and that the doors below can be screwed on correctly.

One more thing: I live alone and am 198cm (6ft 6in) tall – the flap should be above the refrigerator, not below. 😉

So, do the fronts and hinges fit accordingly?

Hello, now you can see a bit more. The back panel of the built-in appliance cabinet is recessed 6 cm (2.4 inches) towards the front. Accordingly, the base, top, and shelves are less deep, creating a continuous ventilation channel at the back with a cross-section of 56 x 6 cm (22 x 2.4 inches). (See pictures in step 6.) Without this ventilation, the heat generated by the refrigerator would accumulate, preventing the appliance from functioning properly.
The vertical positions of the holes are, of course, the same for every cabinet.

Thank you, IKEA expert!

I was specifically asking about the holes on the front.
Since I have a second tall cabinet of the same height, which currently contains the built-in oven and microwave, we will basically swap the cabinets. The oven and microwave will go into the new, used “regular” tall cabinet with shelves (without ventilation, as oven ventilation is usually handled through the front door), and the built-in fridge can then go into the appliance cabinet where the oven was before. I still have the ventilation grille for the baseboard.
This should make everything fit properly. I can simply transfer the reinforced shelf for the oven into the new cabinet.

My oven (Siemens) requires ventilation at the back despite having a fan, for example, the MIRAKULÖS from IKEA does as well...
