Hi everyone,
I’m planning a new kitchen and trying to save a few thousand compared to Nolte & Co. with IKEA (about €7,000 vs. €11,000).
Some issues have come up.
Problem 1:
Due to the total height, I want to use only 220cm (87 inches) tall cabinets.
For the fridge, I want a combination with three freezer compartments (about 70 liters (2.5 cubic feet)) at the bottom and the rest (about 190 liters (6.7 cubic feet)) at the top. Above the 1.80m (5 ft 11 in) niche for the fridge (bottom door 80cm (31.5 inches), top 100cm (39 inches)) I want to use the remaining 40 cm (16 inches) to install an LED TV. So I cannot place the 178cm (70 inches) fridge on a pedestal.
The problem is, I haven’t found any fridge-freezer combos that come close to an 80cm (31.5 inches) cabinet height for the freezer section. They are all around 70cm (28 inches) at the bottom and about 100cm (39 inches) or more at the top.
Does anyone know a manufacturer that makes fridge-freezer combos with 80cm (31.5 inches) tall bottom doors? A+++ energy rating preferred.
Problem 2:
IKEA does not offer an end panel for the 80cm (31.5 inches) wall cabinets. Does anyone know a solution that matches the Bodbyn style?
Problem 3:
With an 80cm (31.5 inches) cabinet height, an 8cm (3 inches) Förbättra decorative toe kick, and a 4cm (1.5 inches) countertop, I only get a countertop height of 92cm (36 inches). But my wife wants 96cm (38 inches). Does anyone have an idea how to increase the 8cm (3 inches) decorative toe kick to 10–12cm (4–5 inches)?

@all:
Regarding point 3.
Yes, putting different feet underneath or placing a board of the right height between the cabinet and the feet was also my idea.

Regarding point 1:
If I install a pedestal, the entire unit will be raised by that amount. So, the top edge of the upper refrigerator door will also be higher by the same amount and thus enter the area of the door above the fridge. But I want this 40cm (16 inches) door to remain separate(!) so I can install the TV there. And if there’s no TV, I don’t want to have to open the fridge every time to access the top compartment.
Regarding point 2:
The need is based on aesthetics. Do you have an IKEA number for the 40cm (16 inches) shelves? I’d like to take a look. It is important that the shelves have rounded or 45° beveled front edges (see corner shelf pictures). So NOT like IKEA number 702.110.37.
Regarding point 3:
Good idea to use the side panels as a base, at least if it’s the standard base set back towards the wall. But we want the DEKO base (302.613.07), which protrudes forward under the cabinet/front. This will probably not work with the 13mm (0.5 inch) side panel. What can I do about that?
Regarding the dishwasher:
Good point, the dishwasher will also need to be raised by 4cm (1.6 inches). We plan to use an AEG FSK93800P. It says height is 82–90cm (32–35 inches). We’ll see if that’s really necessary. It has a "sliding front."
@daniels87
Yes, a base set back towards the wall gives more options. But with the Bodbyn door and DEKO base (see picture), that’s probably not an option.
@DNL:
Also an idea… could you take a picture?

I want to have that 40 cm (16 in) door separately(!) to install the TV there. This won’t work if you look at the installation instructions for IKEA fridge/freezer combinations. Such a distribution of fridge/freezer capacity necessarily results in a freezer section about 70 cm (28 in) high. IKEA solves the installation in a 220 cm (7 ft 3 in) cabinet by putting a plinth at the bottom, allowing the use of the 80 cm (32 in) door at the bottom and a 140 cm (55 in) door at the top.

As far as I know, IKEA does not offer angled shelves.
Regarding the decorative base panel... you should also consider practical aspects. Where do your toes usually end up? Mine are always slightly under the cabinet.
An alternative would be a manufacturer like Häcker or Schüller or similar.
OK, here’s some feedback on how it turned out.
I placed the base cabinet combination on a suitably high pedestal; the space underneath is now for mice and spiders (Refrigerator bottom.JPG).
The space above is too small for an LCD TV, and IKEA only offers doors in 20cm (8 inch) increments. So, I had to install a 140cm (55 inch) wide door instead of the 100cm (39 inch) door (Refrigerator doors.JPG), which only grants access to the space above the refrigerator once the refrigerator door is opened (Refrigerator top.JPG).
I didn’t raise the countertop by increasing the plinth height (the plinth is fixed at 8cm (3 inch) and only comes in that size, Plinth strip.JPG), so I placed an IKEA cover panel in a matching color under the countertop. This increased the height by about 2cm (0.8 inch), which my wife accepted (Countertop height increase.JPG).
I assembled the corner shelf myself using IKEA cover panels (Corner shelf.JPG). It’s not trimmed at a 45-degree angle at the front, but my wife was fine with it, so the project (except for the niche cladding) is completed.
