Hello,

I bought four 120 cm (47-inch) wide Besta cabinets and mounted them using eight wall rails arranged in a single row. Everything is level. However, when I hung the cabinets, their fronts are not flush and not at a 90° angle to the wall. I assume the wall is perfectly straight since the building dates from 1950. According to the instructions, you can only adjust left or right! How can I solve this problem? I want to avoid using a wooden strip because then the glass shelves on top would no longer be flush. I was thinking about using washers to adjust the rails!?

Can anyone help me?

Thank you

What does it mean that the glass panels on top are no longer flush?

When multiple carcasses with glass panels are placed side by side or mounted next to each other, the glass panels do not touch each other perfectly; instead, there is about a 1mm (0.04 inches) gap of air between each glass panel.

The surface on top, or the point where the end of one carcass meets the beginning of the next, should be aligned in a straight line. However, the entire top surface will not be perfectly level because the top and bottom panels are not perfectly flat. I have measured this before. Usually, the glass panel bends slightly in the middle, creating a slight dip, although this is not visible. The transitions from one glass panel to the next must still be aligned.

You need to ensure that when mounting on a wall, the wooden top and bottom panels of the Besta carcasses are aligned, which will also align the fronts. If this is not the case because the wall is uneven, I would hang the individual carcasses so they are flush with each other, then drill through from one carcass to the next using a 5mm (0.2 inches) wood drill bit (use a pre-drilled hole meant for shelf insertion, as there is chipboard inside the carcass!), and then secure them together with connecting screws from the hardware store. This will prevent the carcasses from sagging. I would use at least 2 connectors per carcass, placed at the 3rd hole from the bottom and the 3rd hole from the top. If possible, use 4 connectors: the 3rd hole from the bottom front and back, and the 3rd hole from the top front and back.

After that, place the glass panels on top. Done.

If I understand the problem correctly, the cabinets slope downward at the back where they are mounted on the wall. To compensate for this, something would need to be placed under the rail. As a result, the cabinets would have a gap at the top from the wall, and the glass panel would no longer align flush with the cabinet at the front when it rests against the wall.
If you place a wide strip of wood underneath that extends over the cabinet by the thickness of the glass panel, this strip will serve as a stop for the panel. You could cover the strip and a small part of the glass panel with a quarter round molding.
