Hello everyone, I am looking for proven methods to clean the laminate surfaces of Ikea Pax furniture effectively and gently. I am especially interested in advice on how to avoid surface damage such as scratches or dulling of the finish, but also in keeping the surfaces clean and well maintained. Which cleaning products or procedures have worked well for you to avoid damaging the laminate layers while still removing stubborn stains or fingerprints? I want to avoid using harsh chemicals or exposing the surfaces to excessive moisture, as I have read that the Pax laminate can be sensitive to this. Tips on regular care routines or special additional products would also be appreciated. Looking forward to your experiences!

To clean the PAX laminate surfaces, I always use a damp microfiber cloth with a little mild dish soap in the water. Afterwards, wipe thoroughly dry to prevent moisture damage. Do not use abrasive cleaners or magic erasers, as they cause scratches.

I can easily understand how annoying it can be to keep the delicate surfaces of Ikea PAX wardrobes clean. I experience this sometimes too, especially when children leave fingerprints and stains. I have had good results using a vinegar-water solution diluted 50/50 occasionally to degrease and gently clean the surface. However, I use it sparingly because I am also concerned about potentially damaging the coating over time. I would be interested to know if anyone here uses special care oils or sealants to make the laminate more resistant in the long run. That might be a useful addition to regular cleaning.

I would generally advise against that, as such sealants can change the surface or cause an undesirable shine, which is not always wanted, especially for furniture like the PAX system. Laminate already has a plastic-coated surface that doesn’t require additional sealing. Instead, I recommend regularly wiping with a microfiber cloth and removing stains immediately before they set.

I completely agree—excessive moisture can be a real issue over time. One of the biggest mistakes is cleaning the surface too wet or leaving the cabinet damp continuously. It’s better to use less water and clean more frequently.
