Hello everyone, I am currently looking into how many people are actually needed to assemble the Pax wardrobe, and I would find it helpful if we could share experiences on this here.

I am specifically referring to the assembly of the Pax wardrobe from IKEA, which is now available in different versions. What I am mainly interested in is: How many people are practical to handle the assembly smoothly and without major complications?

It would be great to know not just the bare minimum number of people but also recommendations on whether it works well with two people or if it’s better to have three or four—especially considering specific steps like installing the sliding doors or aligning the modules.

Perhaps you can also share your experiences regarding time planning—how long it takes, for example, a team of two or three to complete the assembly. Thanks in advance!

Great question! I clearly remember my first Pax assembly – we were two people, and it was definitely doable, but sometimes quite stressful. Especially with heavier parts or the sliding doors, it’s helpful to have a third person pitching in, since two hands often aren’t enough.

What helped me back then was dividing the work well: one person holding, the other screwing. But when it comes to precisely aligning the doors, you really need some patience and ideally someone who can both assist and guide the process.

So my conclusion: two people are usually the minimum, but if time and space allow, three is simply more relaxed. What have your experiences been? Did it make the process calmer and faster?

That may be true, but if two people struggle with IKEA furniture assembly, the problem is usually poor planning! Two people are actually ideal if you approach the process systematically – with four people it quickly gets confusing and chaotic because someone is always in the way.

Assembling Pax isn’t a major project, more like routine once you know the steps. Most tasks are sequential, and the units can easily be handled by two people – what you really need is discipline and a plan, not three or four people.

Interestingly, many mention needing more helpers than necessary – isn’t this more about underestimating the basic steps and working without coordination?

What do you think? Is having more people truly productive, or just a sign of lacking structure?"

I basically agree, but I would definitely recommend having a third person, at least if you want precision and a as stress-free process as possible.

Assembling the Pax system, especially the larger modules, presents some technical challenges:
- Aligning the units takes time, especially if the walls are not perfectly straight.
- Installing the sliding doors is tricky because they need to be adjusted precisely, otherwise they stick or hang unevenly.
- The modules are often very unstable with only two people, especially before they are fixed in place.

Therefore, I recommend having at least three people so that:
- One person can hold and align the modules,
- One tightens the screws,
- The third helps with fine-tuning and door installation, which requires a delicate touch.

Also, having a third helper avoids constantly switching between tools and adjustments. Work goes faster, smoother, and the risk of errors is significantly reduced.

Important: The choice of flooring, room size, and workshop equipment available naturally influence the number of helpers needed.

Two people are more than enough if:
- one person reads the instructions carefully
- the other fits the parts
- both coordinate who does what

If you want to save time, okay, maybe three. But more than three? It doesn’t make sense and is more of a hindrance.
