Hello everyone,

I am planning to assemble a large Ikea Pax wardrobe with several modules (width 150 cm (59 inches), height 236 cm (93 inches), depth 58 cm (23 inches)) and I am unsure how many people are ideally needed for this.

My specific question is: How many people are usually required to assemble a large Ikea Pax wardrobe properly, efficiently, and without major problems?

I am particularly interested in whether two people are sufficient, or if three or more are recommended—especially considering the size and weight of the individual wardrobe components, safe handling of the doors, as well as aligning and securing it to the wall.

I would greatly appreciate any experiences, tips on ideal task division, or advice on unexpected difficulties that might require more helpers.

I remain skeptical.

I have often heard that "two are enough" – and then problems arise because one person has twisted legs and the other can no longer hold everything at the same time.

Three people is not a luxury, it is prevention. Especially with heavy, large furniture, you shouldn’t cut back on personnel.

Just a small thought on the topic: Sometimes it’s not only the number of people but also the quality of their collaboration that influences the construction process.

A well-coordinated team of two with clear task distribution often achieves more than an uncoordinated group of three.

However, since this is hard to assess with the Pax wardrobe, the recommendation of at least two, preferably three people, still makes sense.

One final tip: Make sure to always secure the cabinet to the wall, which should not be underestimated.

This often requires at least two people to hold and align the cabinet at the same time, while a third person prepares the wall brackets and screws.

This is the moment when you truly appreciate the value of having extra hands.

Assembly Plan:

- Unpack and sort individual parts – 1 person.
- Assemble the base frame – 2 people.
- Attach side walls and back walls – 2 people.
- Hang and align doors – 3 people.
- Secure to the wall – 3 people.

This is how it should be planned.

Thanks again to everyone!

My conclusion from the discussion: assembling a large Ikea Pax wardrobe is best done with at least two people. A third person is especially recommended for bulky components such as the doors and wall mounting to ensure safety and efficiency.

I will adjust the planning accordingly and, if necessary, bring in additional help rather than risking too much stress with only two people.

If anyone has more experiences or tips, please feel free to share!

Here’s a tip:

For transporting the large side panels, which often have to fit through narrow doors or hallways, having a third person is very helpful.

Also, make sure all your tools are complete in advance (cordless drill, spirit level, hammer) and that the instruction manual is easily accessible. This saves a lot of time and frustration.
