Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble a large Ikea Pax wardrobe with several modules (width 150 cm (59 inches), height 236 cm (93 inches), depth 58 cm (23 inches)) and I am unsure how many people are ideally needed for this.
My specific question is: How many people are usually required to assemble a large Ikea Pax wardrobe properly, efficiently, and without major problems?
I am particularly interested in whether two people are sufficient, or if three or more are recommended—especially considering the size and weight of the individual wardrobe components, safe handling of the doors, as well as aligning and securing it to the wall.
I would greatly appreciate any experiences, tips on ideal task division, or advice on unexpected difficulties that might require more helpers.

I understand that the question of how many helpers to have is not only a logistical issue but also an emotional challenge. Many people are hesitant to ask others for help.
From my own experience, especially with large furniture like the Pax wardrobe, working together and supporting each other makes the assembly process much less stressful – and having a third or fourth helper often provides moral support when something doesn’t fit right away.
So my recommendation is: it’s better to have one or two extra helpers than too few – it saves a lot of frustration.

For better clarity, I have summarized how, in my experience, the assembly of the large Ikea Pax wardrobe is best divided:
1. Preparation by one person: lay out the parts, prepare the tools, review the instructions.
2. Team of two people: one holds the side panels in place while screwing, the other does the screwing.
3. Ideally, a third person is available to stay organized, hang the doors, and help align the frames.
Common mistakes:
- Trying to assemble the wardrobe alone or with only two people without experience significantly increases assembly time.
- Holding the doors with just two people can be difficult because they are bulky and unwieldy.
My advice: Arrange at least two strong individuals, preferably three. With proper preparation, assembly will go smoothly.

Holding doors together can be difficult, as they are bulky and awkward.I can only agree with that. The doors quickly weigh around 10-15 kilograms (22-33 pounds), plus their bulky shape.
A third person provides extra control, prevents accidents, and allows a calm installation without pressure.

I’m still wondering: Are there parts of assembling the PAX where it is absolutely necessary to have at least three people on site at the same time? Or can some steps be done alone or with two people, bringing in the third person only when it gets critical?

Are there parts of the PAX assembly that absolutely require at least three people on site at the same time? The most important part is lifting and aligning the large side panels and fitting the doors. Hanging the doors is usually easier with three people.
By the way, attaching the baseframes and screwing in the back panels normally only requires two people.
So if you have few helpers, you can proceed in stages: first two people for the base frame and side panels, then bring in a third person for installing the doors.
