Hello everyone,

I recently got a Pax wardrobe with sliding doors, but unfortunately the doors keep sticking, which makes opening and closing very difficult.

I’m particularly interested in how to mechanically and structurally prevent the sliding doors on a Pax wardrobe from sticking. Are there adjustments or maintenance tasks that are especially important for this? What are the most common causes when the doors no longer glide smoothly?

I’ve read that it can be due to tracks, rollers, or incorrect installation, but I would appreciate your practical experiences that go beyond the standard advice.

Thanks for your help!

Hello sika61!

This is a great topic, and I completely understand you – once doors start sticking, it can really be frustrating! 😀

In my experience, the issue usually comes down to adjusting the rollers. With my Pax wardrobe, the rollers at the bottom weren’t properly aligned, so I just had to adjust the height a bit. It’s also worth cleaning the tracks regularly, as dust and lint can build up and block the movement.

A tip: If you want to use lubricant, definitely avoid WD-40 or oil. They attract dust and make things worse! Instead, dry Teflon spray works well because it stays clean and allows the doors to slide more smoothly.

Keep at it – with a little patience, you can definitely fix it! Good luck! 😊

I would like to add to that and clarify the procedure:

- First, you should carefully remove the sliding doors from the wardrobe by unhooking them. This allows you to inspect the tracks and rollers more easily.
- Check the upper and lower tracks for dirt or damage.
- Inspect the rollers for wear or deformation, as these can sometimes cause the doors to jam.
- The rollers on the Pax system can usually be adjusted in height using a small screwdriver on an adjustment screw located at the bottom edge of the door.
- After cleaning and adjusting, reinstall the doors and test their movement.

Also important to note: The doors should always fit precisely into the designated groove to prevent them from sticking or misaligning. Overloading the doors can also cause issues.

If you like, I can provide you with a step-by-step guide.

To answer sika61’s question precisely:

Sliding doors on the Pax wardrobe typically get stuck due to a combination of worn rollers, insufficient maintenance of the tracks, and incorrect adjustment of the door height.

The following points are crucial:

- Check the rollers and replace them if worn. New rollers ensure smooth movement and prevent sticking.
- Clean the tracks (top and bottom) of dust, grease, and debris. Particles especially accumulate at the bottom, causing the doors to stick.
- Verify door adjustment during installation: height adjustment ensures the correct gap between the door and the cabinet to prevent misalignment.
- Make sure the doors are properly seated in the guide tracks, as incorrect installation leads to sticking issues.

Additionally, using a dry lubricant (e.g., Teflon spray) can improve movement, but avoid oily products as they attract dust.

Regular inspection and readjustment reduce wear and ensure the sliding doors on the Pax operate smoothly over time.

Thank you all for your very helpful explanations so far!

One important point for me is actually the adjustment of the roller height, which I have underestimated until now. My doors also often stick in a certain area where I suspect they might be slightly misaligned.

One more question: How can you tell if the rollers are worn out? Do they usually show visible damage, or do you notice it only by how smoothly they run?

Also, I’m interested to know if there are any special tools for cleaning the tracks that make it easier to reach all the spots.

Looking forward to your tips!
