Hello everyone, I have a specific question about installing Billy shelves on uneven floors. My floor is unfortunately not completely level, which causes the shelves to wobble or not align properly. Does anyone have experience or tips on how to best install Billy shelves on such uneven surfaces? My main concern is to ensure long-term stability and to make adjustments as simply as possible without having to carry out major work on the floor. I look forward to your advice!
That’s exactly how I did it! I found great adjustable feet that can be attached to the original drill holes of the Billy shelf. The shelf now stands rock-solid, and the floor looks great despite its unevenness. Simple modification – nothing wobbled or bent. This is brilliant! 🙂
I see this in a more nuanced way. Whether adjustable feet can be installed directly without modifications largely depends on the exact model of the Billy shelving unit. Older models without pre-drilled feet may require adjustments, such as additional holes. The issue of load distribution is also important: if the floor is very uneven, point loads on the adjustable feet could cause stress on the cabinet structure. In this case, I recommend carefully measuring and preparing the foot height before installation.

The issue of load distribution is relevant This is an important point. Additionally, I would recommend using both the feet and wall mounting solutions in cases of significant unevenness. This combination helps minimize tipping and shear forces on the shelving unit itself. Furthermore, thin plywood sheets can be used as a base to cushion floor irregularities and distribute the load more evenly.usbla schrieb:
Combination minimizes tipping and shear forces on the shelf Exactly! I did both—I adjusted the feet and secured the shelf to the wall. It has been firmly fixed in place for months now, completely stable! 🙂 No more wobbly moments.Similar topics
