Hello everyone, I have the following question: What is the best way to attach objects to a carpeted floor without damaging or restricting the carpet too much? Specifically, I want to secure light to medium-weight items like shelves or cable ducts, which need to be fixed firmly so they wonât slip around. Are there special anchors or adhesive methods suitable for carpets? I have tried a few things already but am unsure about what works long-term without ruining the carpet. I look forward to your tips and experiences, especially if you know of any creative solutions.
Hello Akimdo,
Your question is quite valid, as carpets behave differently than hard floors when it comes to attachments. Generally, there are a few approaches:
1. Carpet adhesive or double-sided carpet tape applied to the back of objects helps to secure lightweight items firmly.
2. For shelves or heavier objects, it is important to fix the attachments either directly into the wall or to use special carpet anchors that do not damage the carpet but rather grip into the underlying floor structure.
3. Cable ducts can be attached to the wall using adhesives or special clips that do not require screws.
This is usually the main issue since the carpet is flexible. If you can provide more information about your items or the type of carpet, I can assist you more precisely.

Hi Akimdo,
I want to add that you should check what is underneath your carpet. Often, there is a subfloor such as parquet, screed, or concrete. You can use appropriate anchors there without damaging the carpet, as long as you are careful when drilling and either gently lift the carpet to the side or make a small cut with a carpet cutter.
Personally, I prefer fixing items to the wall because it does not strain the carpet and is more stable. If that is not possible, mounting foam or special adhesives can be used if a dust-free solution is required.
Important: Always consider the type of carpet, as some are more sensitive than others.
