Matthewt4824 Jul 2023 08:46Regarding lubricants: I prefer using silicone spray or silicone oil for furniture fittings. It is odorless, does not soak in, and does not leave greasy residues that attract dirt. It is important to spray sparingly and wipe off any excess oil with a cloth.
For the readjustment, a good Phillips screwdriver is usually sufficient. Turn the screws in small increments (e.g., quarter turns) and check how the door behaves in between. This way, you can usually find the correct setting quickly without over-tightening.
Regarding soft-close hinges: The ones from Ikea are solid and well matched to the Metod system. Third-party suppliers often offer cheaper alternatives, but their quality can vary greatly. If you value durability, I would stick with Ikea, as their hinges fit precisely and the Ikea warranty then applies.
