I would like to start a discussion on the topic: "How can the stability of the Ikea Hemnes furniture, especially the large wardrobes and dressers, be effectively improved?"
I own several Hemnes pieces that I appreciate, but especially under heavier loads or intense use, I notice that the stability is not optimal. This concerns not only the firmness of the base but also possible reinforcement to reduce rattling and the risk of tipping.
Does anyone have professional or DIY tips that go beyond the usual screws and glue methods? Which materials or techniques have proven effective? Are there any experiences with additional bracing, alternative fastening materials, or even modifications to the structure?
I look forward to your well-founded suggestions and advice!

I installed felt pads with a rubber insert under the feet to prevent slipping and improve stability. That’s an interesting approach.
However, it should be carefully checked whether the felt pads underneath actually increase stability or might even promote slipping on smooth floors. Some kind of non-slip rubber base might be more effective.

The thin hardboard back panel can be replaced with a 4mm (0.16 inch) plywood panel – this material is much more stable, preventing warping and tipping movements. I also see this as the core of the stability issue. Using higher-quality material for the back panel is often the most effective solution.
Does anyone have an affordable source for such panels or practical installation tips?
Wow, what great tips here! 🙂 I really appreciate how helpful the advice is and want to encourage everyone: Don’t be afraid to improve the furniture yourself!
For me, tightening the drawer runners and sometimes securing them with wood glue helped. This makes the dresser less wobbly and the drawers close more smoothly.
Also, I always use a spirit level during assembly – it quickly shows if something isn’t perfectly aligned.
Keep going, the result is worth it!
