Hello everyone, I am facing the challenge of organizing and safely storing my various electronic devices. Some time ago, I came across the Ikea Pax wardrobe and wonder how to best use this modular cabinet for storing electronics. I am not only thinking about storing cables, consoles, or routers, but also more sensitive devices like external hard drives, cameras, and smaller audio or studio equipment. How can the Pax be set up in the most efficient way, including ventilation considerations, to ensure both dust protection and adequate air circulation? Are there any experiences with specific modifications or accessories to make the cabinet electromagnetically suitable or at least shielded? I look forward to tips, experiences, and creative solutions!

I understand your concern about storing your electronics, especially when you have sensitive devices that can be damaged not only by dust but also by overheating or moisture. What helped me was organizing a specific area clearly and always storing devices that generate a lot of heat in an easily accessible spot with good air circulation. When a cabinet is very full, it can quickly feel overwhelming – having a sense of order provides reassurance. Have you considered which devices you use daily and which ones are used less often? This could help you prioritize how to arrange them.

To store electronics in the Pax wardrobe, I recommend:

- Use shelves with spacing to allow air circulation.
- Use padded boxes or foam inserts for sensitive devices.
- Alternatively, you can glue ventilation grilles in place if you prefer not to drill.
- Regularly monitor the temperature and humidity inside the cabinet, for example with a small hygrometer.

This not only ensures safety but also extends the lifespan of your devices. If you like, I can also provide tips on suitable accessories.

Another aspect when using the Pax system for electronics is avoiding electrostatic charging. Make sure not to use purely synthetic boxes or covers. Cotton cloths or antistatic protective sleeves work better for this.

Additionally, indirect lighting inside the cabinet can be useful to make handling the devices easier without having to keep the cabinet open all the time, which would promote dust accumulation and temperature fluctuations.

I’m curious: Which devices and how many exactly do you plan to store? This greatly affects the necessary measures.

Thanks for the detailed response! I’m currently planning to store about 5-6 consoles (PS4, Nintendo Switch, partly retro devices), several routers and modems, 3 external hard drives, 2 DSLRs, as well as a mixer and audio interface for my home studio. Additionally, various cables and chargers. Temperature is definitely a concern, especially for consoles that require more cooling, so I’m thinking about installing some kind of internal ventilation or small fans. The idea of dehumidifiers also caught my interest—do you have any specific recommendations? What about the power supply for fans and possibly lighting inside the cabinet? Thanks in advance to everyone thinking along!
