Hello everyone,

I am currently facing the challenge of optimizing the use of my bedroom with IKEA PAX wardrobes, but I am having particular difficulties with the sloped areas under the roof pitch. My question is: How can I best utilize the available storage space on the sloped surfaces in the bedroom with the PAX system?

I am looking for solutions on how to most efficiently adapt PAX to irregular ceiling heights, especially with slanting walls. Are there specific assembly methods, furniture combinations, or accessories that work especially well in these situations?

Who has experience with PAX in attics or similar spatial constraints and can share tips on what works and what should be avoided?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

To make the most of sloped walls with PAX, it’s advisable to adapt the system modularly to the room’s conditions. Specifically, this means:

- Use lower wardrobe units for areas with limited height and combine these with taller units along the regular walls.
- Incorporate open compartments or drawers in the lower sections, as hanging rods are often impractical on sloped walls.
- IKEA also offers special sloped elements or adjustments such as cut-to-fit side panels to accommodate the angle.
- Custom solutions with shelves tailored to the roof slope are another option.

Make sure to measure the interior dimensions carefully beforehand to plan the modules accordingly. It is also recommended to combine PAX with suitable inserts like drawers or pull-outs to increase functionality.

The system is flexible but works best when combined with careful planning.

The most important thing is to measure the height of the sloped ceiling accurately.

Place small cabinets or dressers at the bottom, with larger PAX units above.

You can also skip doors to save space and make the most of your storage.

Exactly, planning really is key here. I would also add that when dealing with sloped ceilings, you might consider combining individual PAX components without back panels. This allows shelves to be adjusted more flexibly and prevents the space from feeling too cramped.

Using drawers at lower heights is also a good option, as they are easier to access when the slope runs very low.

You should also take into account that doors often don’t open properly when placed under a slope. In such cases, you can either choose open modules or sliding doors, provided there is enough space.

These solutions have proven effective in my projects.
