Hello everyone, I am considering how to best use the Ikea PAX system for home office purposes. Specifically, I want to create storage space for office supplies, documents, and technology in a practical way that doesn’t feel bulky or inconvenient.
I am thinking of a combination of shelving units, drawers, and possibly integrated cable management solutions. Has anyone had experience adapting PAX not just as a traditional wardrobe, but as a functional, well-organized workspace? I am especially interested in how to combine PAX elements effectively with a desk and which interior fittings work best for this. Also, whether the materials and load-bearing capacities are truly suitable for home office use.
Looking forward to your tips and practical experiences!

I really like the idea of using the PAX system for a home office. At home, I often miss having flexible storage. I started with open shelves at first, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed when everything is on display. Maybe a mix with doors or even fabric boxes would make sense? I’m curious to see how others here find the balance between visibility and tidiness.

It looks airier, and you can hide important things along the way that don’t need to be seen by everyone. And if you like, a few clever baskets fit in—just not too many, so it stays cozy and organized.
I completely understand the concerns about visibility. Especially when working from home, a calm environment really helps me. In my experience, PAX with sliding doors is ideal for storing documents. I have drawers underneath and open compartments for frequently used devices, so the essentials are within reach without creating a cluttered look.

It is important to focus on flexible interior fittings – IKEA offers some good systems for retrofitting. A tip: Glass shelves also look great and help maintain a clear overview.
