Hello everyone, I have a specific question for those familiar with Ikea BESTA systems: How can I make the doors of my BESTA cabinets close more quietly and smoothly? At the moment, they close quite loudly and sometimes a bit roughly, which is especially noticeable in a quiet environment. Are there any proven technical improvements, suitable soft-close mechanisms, or installation tips that can make the closing movement gentler? I’m looking for simple and cost-effective retrofit options that can be implemented without much effort. I look forward to your experience and advice!

Alternatively, properly adjusting the door gap dimensions ensures that the doors don’t slam unnecessarily against the cabinet frame.Exactly! If the doors are not properly aligned, even the best dampers won’t help much. I would always start by adjusting the hinges; that worked wonders for me! After that, you can further improve with adhesive bumpers.
I also struggled with the noisy Besta doors; it’s really frustrating when the rest of the apartment is quiet. For me, a combination of hinge adjustment and buffer dampers worked best. It’s also important to remember that different doors or fronts (wood, glass, lacquer) have different closing dynamics. Definitely be patient when adjusting and check if the hinges or buffers loosen over time.
Regarding soft-close installation, it should be noted that Ikea does not offer soft-close hinges as standard in the BESTA system. However, components from other manufacturers can fit but require precise compatibility checks. The position of the dampers and the hinge mechanism are crucial. The effect can be achieved through the correct combination of the opening mechanism and damping. For simpler solutions, I recommend high-quality silicone buffers.

What worked really well for me are these self-adhesive silicone bumpers that you stick directly on the inside of the doors. Thanks for the tip! I’m also curious: does anyone have recommendations or specific sources for these bumpers? Should you pay attention to certain sizes or hardness levels to ensure the doors don’t become too stiff? Are there differences in the adhesives to make sure they hold permanently on the smooth surfaces of the BESTA doors? I also don’t want to affect the appearance too much.
