I’m considering buying an Ikea PAX wardrobe for my small bedroom because it can be configured very flexibly. However, I’m wondering how to set up the wardrobe in a space-saving way without making the room feel cramped. Are there any specific tips regarding the ideal width, height, or internal layout to make the best use of the available space? I’m also interested in recommended combinations with sliding doors or shelving units to save space. Has anyone had experience with PAX wardrobes in small rooms and can offer advice on optimal installation?

I am now planning to combine two 50cm (20 inches) PAX units with a depth of 35cm (14 inches), extending up to the ceiling, and fitted with sliding doors. As a room divider, I will add open shelves on the back to optimize storage space. I will double-check how this affects the natural light. If anyone has any final suggestions regarding shelf compartments or drawers, please let me know!
For open shelving, I recommend using baskets or boxes to keep things organized. For drawers, you should choose smooth-running systems, especially in small rooms where there is limited space for complicated opening mechanisms. Drawer inserts help prevent small items from getting lost.
