dossantos22 Sep 2013 09:45Hello forum members,
I have a problem with a Pax wardrobe. It consists of two parts (50cm (20 inches) and 100cm (40 inches) wide). In the 50cm (20 inches) wide section, there are four drawers at the bottom, each with a front height of 17cm (7 inches). The issue is that the side panels do not have a hole pattern to properly attach the drawer slides. The top and bottom slides fit correctly, but for the two in between, it is not possible to attach the slides so the drawers can slide in smoothly. Is it possible that the holes in the side panels need to be drilled by yourself? There would be six holes. Does anyone know the distance between the holes for these two drawers?
Kind regards

IKEA-Experte22 Sep 2013 11:18Hello, I’m not sure if I understood the problem correctly. You don’t need to drill any holes.
Start with the bottom drawer, make sure it is properly seated on the slide, then attach the slides for the next drawer above and insert that drawer. If the drawer does not slide smoothly, it means the slide is mounted one hole too low. You continue this way upward.
Your description sounds like you fixed the positions of the top and bottom drawers first and then tried to fit the ones in between, regardless of whether there is enough space between them or not.

dossantos22 Sep 2013 22:10Hello,
I also thought that no drilling would be necessary, but I have no other choice if it is to work. Each drawer has a height of 17.3 cm (6.8 inches). All 4 fit dimension-wise into the opening intended for the drawers. Above the drawers is a door. If you install the first drawer from the top (of course with the rails in the correct pre-drilled holes) and then want to install the next one below, you only have pre-drilled holes available that either place the drawer too high or, if you use the next row of pre-drilled holes lower down, the drawer leaves too large a gap to the one above. The same problem occurs with the third drawer down. Only with the bottom drawer do the offered holes in the side panel allow the rail to be screwed in correctly.
Best regards

IKEA-Experte22 Sep 2013 23:16I assumed it was an inner drawer. You probably have the Birkeland with 4 drawers? The assembly instructions say to attach the rails in holes 1, 6, 12, and 17. If it still doesn’t work, you might not have followed the A-B-A-B sequence.

dossantos23 Sep 2013 21:41Hello,
Thank you very much for your response. It is indeed the case that with two drawers, the symmetry differs from the rest of the drawer set (ABAB). I spent the whole day thinking about it and, after work, took a closer look at the drawers and then noticed this difference. On Saturday evening, I somehow didn’t catch it. Everything fits now.
