Hello,

can someone tell me the dimensions a built-in microwave needs to have to fit into the designated cabinet?

We want to get one but don't necessarily want to choose one of the IKEA models.

I have seen that other manufacturers offer them in all sorts of sizes. What is the “IKEA standard size” here? That way, we can search directly for that...

Thanks!

It will be the HUSHALLA. Download the assembly instructions for various IKEA microwave ovens from the IKEA website. You will find precise measurements there.

Why not choose IKEA?

You do know that IKEA microwaves are actually made by Whirlpool...

Except for the VÄRMD model, all of them feature the 3D wave pattern (a Whirlpool patent, now expired as Whirlpool did not renew it), Jet Defrost (also a Whirlpool patent), and some have Crisp or Auto Crisp functions...

Do you want to cook with the microwave or just reheat coffee?

If you plan to cook with it, I would recommend specifically searching online for reviews. It’s no coincidence that even celebrity chefs on TV say the best microwaves come from Whirlpool/Bauknecht.

IKEA isn't leading in all home appliances, but when it comes to microwaves, I consider them comparable to steam ovens, where currently no one can rival Miele.

So, the prices asked for both the steam ovens and the IKEA microwaves seem quite reasonable in this context.

Hi,

are you planning to install the microwave in a wall cabinet or a tall cabinet?

For wall cabinets, you should make sure the microwave does not exceed the external dimensions of 60cm (24 inches) wide / 37cm (15 inches) deep / 35cm (14 inches) high. With a tall cabinet, it is generally less problematic, and a depth of up to 55cm (22 inches) can be accommodated. The height is flexible and can be adjusted with a filler piece to ensure a neat finish against the cabinet.

As already mentioned, the Ikea microwaves, including the VÄRMD model, are excellent appliances. I also consider the 5-year warranty to be an important factor in the purchasing decision.

Best regards

In some houses, many appliances like Datid/Framtid/Nutid MW6 are also sold at a discount. For example, in Hanau, the DÅTID / NUTID MW6 microwave is available for 349.00 instead of 449.00, and the FRAMTID MW6 microwave for 329.00 instead of 399.00.

The microwave is to be built into a wall cabinet. Only three models are suitable: VÄRMD, HUSHALLA, and FRAMTID.

What are the drawbacks of the VÄRMD? Is it worse than other appliances in the same price range?

What about the espresso machine? Does anyone have experience with it?
