Hello!

For our walk-in closet, we need two wardrobes. We took a look at Nolte Attraction at Höffner and liked it quite a bit. However, it only comes in widths of 270 or 300cm (106 or 118 inches), and with our wall measuring 291cm (115 inches), neither option fits at all.

So, we thought it might make more sense to consider custom-made furniture right away. After all, you want to have something for decades, and it should probably fit seamlessly. The room height is also important—who wants a dust trap area above the wardrobe? (On the other hand, especially for sliding door wardrobes, there needs to be some space left at the top for the doors to be installed properly.)

What do you think about a ceiling-high wardrobe solution?

Does anyone know of any providers for custom-made furniture who deliver reliable, high-quality work and stick to delivery schedules? Even with a custom solution, we want to have the same quality as offered by brands like Nolte or Staud.

Here is our walk-in closet.

I have a very old sideboard from my grandmother in the hallway. Maybe this could be something for you? -> Ebay classifieds. If I didn’t have that, I would probably turn a Besta unit into a wall-mounted cabinet. Besta is currently my best friend.

Danish Bettenlager...? They sometimes have nice unique pieces. Or really classified ads, apartment clearances, etc., where you can find great items. If you don’t like oak or similar, you can always paint the piece white or in a color.

Exactly: many old pieces of furniture have a lot of potential. And “colorful” or matte black often go very well with simple white Ikea furniture.
Check out Pinterest for inspiration—I always get ideas from there.
You can sometimes find dressers cheaply at stores like Roller, Otto, or Möbel24, but they usually look cheap as well.

There are guides online, for example at DIY stores where wood is cut to size. However, it still requires more craftsmanship than assembling IKEA furniture.

A CAD drawing is only necessary for mass production.

Since moving in, we have had several pieces of furniture custom-made by a carpenter: bed, dining table, wardrobe, large sideboard, built-in shelves, etc. In my experience, the quality is better and the price is lower than buying from a furniture store. However, you first need to have a clear idea of the design you want. For example, we wanted all the furniture made from solid, knot-free oak. The dining table with a central leg and an 8cm (3 inch) thick tabletop costs around 5,000 euros online, but only half that price from the carpenter.

Still too expensive for me considering how often I wear out dining tables.
