Hello!

For our walk-in closet, we need two wardrobes. We took a look at Nolte Attraction at Höffner and liked it quite a bit. However, it only comes in widths of 270 or 300cm (106 or 118 inches), and with our wall measuring 291cm (115 inches), neither option fits at all.

So, we thought it might make more sense to consider custom-made furniture right away. After all, you want to have something for decades, and it should probably fit seamlessly. The room height is also important—who wants a dust trap area above the wardrobe? (On the other hand, especially for sliding door wardrobes, there needs to be some space left at the top for the doors to be installed properly.)

What do you think about a ceiling-high wardrobe solution?

Does anyone know of any providers for custom-made furniture who deliver reliable, high-quality work and stick to delivery schedules? Even with a custom solution, we want to have the same quality as offered by brands like Nolte or Staud.

Here is our walk-in closet.

If you check the suppliers, you can quickly see the costs – and then you still have to assemble the whole thing yourself. Otherwise, it quickly becomes quite expensive.

Our living room furniture would have been significantly more expensive online – but maybe that was due to the different depths, etc. Just plan what you like with a supplier, including all interior fittings, and then go to a carpenter and have them give you a quote.

The best results can only be achieved by a carpenter. Especially when they can provide on-site consultation. There are truly customized solutions as well as different approaches.

The other alternative mentioned was Ikea Pax units; then adapting the whole with drywall/shelving to fit.

Who will get to enjoy the "design" there for several thousand euros?
Installing a Pax wardrobe (or any other off-the-shelf option) and finishing the rest with drywall will make it flush. Or you could intentionally leave the gaps; they’re a good fit to hide an ironing board behind. Nobody will see it anyway.
You can also get a Pax wardrobe for 275cm (108 inches), right?

It’s quite annoying to have forgotten 9cm (3.5 inches) of space in the planning.

Based on our experience with carpenters, I would estimate the cost to be around 5000-6000€ (approximately $5400-$6500), which is quite a lot of wood compared to a Pax wardrobe and some drywall work. You just have to consider whether it’s worth the money for you.

@TE: your 2.91 means that the sliding door is already inside the entrance to the dressing room.

The left wall is actually a bit shorter.

The sliding door probably won’t be delivered.

It’s best to hire a carpenter who can provide on-site consultation, take measurements, and then custom-make the door.
