silvermir1 Mar 2017 21:32Good evening,
I am almost finished installing my kitchen. The only thing left is cutting the countertop. I have one question regarding this:
How deep should the sink and the cooktop be installed? My countertop is 63.5 cm deep (25 inches), and I’m considering whether to install both centered or to position them with a specific distance from the front edge. What do you think? Are there any guidelines? Does it look awkward if the sink and cooktop are not centered?
Thanks for your answers.
Best regards,
silvermir

minimum clearances should be specified in the dimension drawings provided by the cooktop manufacturer.

The remaining strips after the cutout should be at least 5cm (2 inches) wide; otherwise, the countertop will break at that point under localized load. Be careful when carrying the countertop if it is cut before being secured to the base cabinets, as the countertop has often broken exactly at these points during kitchen installation.

If the sink is too far back, I get back pain, and with the stovetop, larger pans won’t fit at the back. You often end up in situations where even one centimeter (inch) makes all the difference.
