Hello,
since we want to install a 90cm (35 inch) wide ceramic cooktop in our IKEA kitchen, we also want to install a 90cm (35 inch) wide range hood above it. Because the cabinet below the cooktop is 80cm (31.5 inch) wide, it should also be an 80cm (31.5 inch) wall cabinet – we have chosen the FA305 model.
Now we want to clarify if we can, for example, install the range hood "Neff DA 89 B."
We imagine it like this:
- The cabinet bottom will not be installed
- Instead, a vertical board will be installed spanning the full height and width as a divider
- The upper shelf will be cut out accordingly to allow the exhaust duct to pass through
- Minor adjustments so that shelves and similar (e.g., a spice cabinet) will fit
What do you think, could this work or have we missed or misunderstood something fundamental?
We also found a "Z5420X0 installation set for 90 cm wall cabinet" from Neff, which we seem to need – we’ll see.
Thanks in advance to everyone!

However, based on your description, it should work. Just make sure there is good air circulation on both sides of the hood, as the motor is located there and needs proper cooling.
You will have to raise the base anyway. Since you won’t be able to use the cam lock or metal anchor after that, you have two options. Either drill new holes, which I think is quite a hassle, or secure it with wood screws. To be safe, I would also use wooden dowels.
