ᐅ Are there any IKEA Platsa options available with glass fronts?

JomepeoHello everyone,
I am currently planning to get a new wardrobe system from IKEA and am particularly interested in the Platsa system. I have a question about whether the Platsa wardrobes come with glass fronts, or if the fronts are only made of wood or melamine-coated panels. It is important to me that the wardrobe doors have a modern and somewhat lighter appearance, so I am leaning towards glass fronts – preferably clear or possibly with a slight frosted glass effect.
Does anyone have experience with this or know if IKEA officially offers such options? Or maybe tips on whether it is possible to retrofit existing Platsa wardrobes with glass fronts?
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Or maybe tips on whether existing Platsa cabinets can be retrofitted with glass fronts?Basically, the IKEA Platsa system is designed to be flexible and modular, but the fronts are only available in wood and melamine-coated versions as standard. IKEA does not officially offer glass fronts for Platsa.
If you want to equip your Platsa with glass fronts, it is recommended to go through third-party suppliers who make custom glass doors for IKEA furniture. Here, precise measurements and compatible fittings are important.
Another key point is the type of glass. Clear glass gives a modern look, while frosted or satin glass provides more privacy. Often, hinges need to be replaced during installation, as the mounting points for glass doors can differ.
In short:
- IKEA does not sell glass fronts for Platsa
- Retrofit solutions are usually technically demanding and require careful planning
- Professional glass specialists can provide suitable options
I would like to know more about your specific purpose: Are you looking to enhance the appearance only, or also functional aspects like privacy, light transmission, or special durability? That could affect further recommendations.

Additionally, the Platsa series is specifically designed with very durable standard materials and straightforward assembly in mind, so the doors typically feature plastic fittings that are not originally intended for glass fronts.
Those who want to integrate glass fronts need to either use compatible mounting kits from third-party suppliers or modify the hinges and fastenings.
For users who prioritize glass fronts, IKEA offers glass doors in other systems like Bestå or Besta, although these are not directly compatible with Platsa.
Summary:
- No official glass fronts for Platsa
- Retrofits require modifications
- Alternative: Consider other IKEA systems for glass fronts
I recommend checking the exact dimensions and attachment points before any conversion and, if necessary, seeking professional advice regarding glass processing to ensure safety and durability.
