Niccolo685 Mar 2017 14:12Hello everyone,
I am currently planning new wardrobes and am considering the IKEA PAX system. However, I would like to know if PAX wardrobes are available with glass doors. Specifically, I am interested in whether IKEA offers glass doors as a standard option for the PAX series or if a custom solution is usually required. If anyone has experience with these types of options—regarding availability, quality, or installation—I would appreciate your feedback.
Is the topic of glass doors for PAX wardrobes rather rare, or is it well covered? And what options might there be for partially or fully glazed doors? Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hello Niccolo68,
Ikea does offer doors with glass panels for the Pax series. The range includes so-called "display cabinet doors" (display cabinet series for Pax) with large glass areas, usually frosted or clear depending on the model. These glass doors come in fixed designs and are available in several standard sizes to fit the Pax carcasses.
Customizing the glass door construction beyond the standard range is not supported. Ikea therefore recommends considering third-party suppliers or DIY solutions for special size requirements. The quality of Ikea’s glass doors is reasonable for the price but technically not comparable to high-end glass cabinet systems.
Best regards

FABIAN_DEO5 Mar 2017 15:02Hello Niccolo68,
to answer your question in detail: Yes, Ikea does offer glass doors for the Pax series. These are sold under the name "display doors" and usually consist of a wood or MDF frame with a glass panel in the center. The types of glass vary; you will often find clear glass, frosted glass, or patterned glass that slightly obscures the view inside.
Important when choosing: the display doors come in standard sizes, typically widths of 50cm (20 inches) or 100cm (39 inches), and heights matching the corresponding Pax cabinet frames (201cm (79 inches) and 236cm (93 inches)). If you need a different size, it becomes difficult because the frame and glass fittings are standardized.
Installation is not complicated, as the doors are constructed similarly to the standard doors, just with glass added. A small tip: handle them with extra care during transport and assembly since the glass is fragile.
What many don’t realize is that you cannot directly use glass doors from Ikea’s "Godmorgon" series (bathroom furniture) for Pax, as the hinges and attachment points are different.
An alternative, if you want glass but more customization, is to build the frames yourself or have doors made by a carpenter with glass panels. However, this can be more costly.
Do you already have specific measurements in mind? Or are you looking for a general overview of the glass options in the Pax system?

This allows you to easily replace them without making further modifications to the frames.
It is also important to note that some Pax doors with glass may have a different thickness, which can affect the proper hanging of the door.
In summary: Ikea offers display cabinet doors as a glass door option that is easy to install and well suited as an addition.
