Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me here. I am interested in Ikea’s Pax system because I need a wardrobe with flexible options. However, I am increasingly focusing on sustainability when it comes to furniture. Therefore, I would like to know specifically: Are there Pax variants or individual components made from sustainable materials? Not just generally eco-friendly, but specifically for Pax – for example, wood from FSC-certified sources, recycled materials, or other sustainable manufacturing processes. I want to avoid buying furniture that may seem affordable but was produced under questionable conditions. Thanks in advance for your opinions and maybe some insights on how Ikea addresses sustainability with the Pax system!

In summary, there don’t seem to be any fully sustainable Pax options, but some individual parts, such as doors made from FSC-certified wood or bamboo, do exist. The main frame, however, is usually made from traditional engineered wood with a laminate finish. Sustainability mainly comes from combining certified materials with the ability to use and replace individual modules over a long period. For me, this is a nuanced answer that makes a lot of sense. I will look for FSC doors and maintain the frame carefully. If anyone has specific tips on care or repair for Pax, I would appreciate it.
For the care of Pax, I can only recommend: a damp cloth, mild dish soap, and no harsh cleaners. Repairs are usually possible with replacement parts from Ikea. The modular construction makes it easy to swap out individual components. If desired, you can even paint or refinish parts as needed to extend their lifespan.
