Hello everyone,

I’m currently considering assembling my new Ikea Metod kitchen myself and have already gone through the manuals. I’m wondering if there are any specific Metod assembly videos that not only show the individual steps but also provide simple and practical tips to keep in mind during the build.

I have seen some tutorials that cover Ikea furniture in general, but nothing specific to Metod that addresses tricky assembly points or explains how to put it together more efficiently and safely.

Does anyone know of such assembly videos? I would also appreciate advice on the basics, for example regarding cabinet doors, drawers, or corner installation. Ideally, it would be something practical and especially helpful for beginners who are handy but often encounter hidden challenges with Ikea furniture.

I’m looking forward to your tips and experiences!

Hello adamle,

I understand your question well, as the Metod kitchen system is indeed more complex than many other Ikea components. There are several videos that specifically address Metod assembly, but it can sometimes be difficult to find tips that are both practical and easy to follow.

Often, the best resources are the videos published by Ikea themselves, since their step-by-step instructions are usually very structured and often include advice on things like aligning the cabinets or attaching the fronts.

In addition, you can occasionally find user-made tutorials on video platforms that focus on specific issues such as "What to do if the doors don’t close properly?" or "How to make the drawers slide smoothly?" However, the quality of these videos varies greatly.

One tip from me: make sure the video is up to date, as Ikea sometimes changes the components or issues new assembly guidelines.

If you like, I can share a few links later in the thread that I find helpful.

It’s best to start by carefully preparing each step and having all your tools ready – this often saves a lot of frustration during the actual assembly.

Yes, such videos do exist. Ikea itself provides short instruction videos on their website and YouTube channel. For more specific tips, you can search for "Metod kitchen assembly tips," where you’ll also find tutorials from private users addressing exactly the points you mentioned.

An important tip during assembly is to always check the dowel holes and avoid tightening the screws too much, as this helps prevent damage.

That’s true, good instructional videos are rare, but I have found some useful ones that also address the most common mistakes during assembly.

Above all, it’s important to align the cabinets precisely before screwing them together. Even a small misalignment can cause problems later with doors and drawers. A spirit level and a set of clamps are helpful to hold the parts in place while fastening.

To add to that: also make use of the Metod product family pages on Ikea’s site. They often include PDF manuals that explain more than the small assembly booklet.

One last tip for opening the Metod fronts: sometimes the small plastic clips are tricky. There are videos that show how to remove and install the fronts without damage.

If anyone is interested, I can post a brief overview here in the thread about the correct handling of the fronts and drawers.
