berliner_12320 Jun 2015 20:28Hello,
As shown in the picture, we want to have the microwave and oven side by side. Is the lower combination possible? The microwave is 45cm (18 inches) high, and above the lower drawers (2x40cm (16 inches)) we would like to add a 10cm (4 inches) drawer, a 5cm (2 inch) panel, and then place the microwave. Is this somehow possible?
According to the assembly instructions, the tall cabinet carcass is somewhat flexible (the shelf on which the microwave stands can be adjusted up or down). The same should apply to the drawer. How are panels typically attached? Do you have to cut them yourself, are there rails for attachment, or are they fixed with adhesive?
Has anyone been through a similar "improvisation" with Metod Ikea?
Thank you all very much.

IKEA-Experte21 Jun 2015 18:36There is the HELANDE cover panel, which comes with a mounting bracket, or with the smooth Ringhult front, a 20cm (8 inch) high drawer front can also be shortened to 15cm (6 inch).

berliner_12321 Jun 2015 20:14Thanks for the tip.
I hadn’t even thought about shortening a 20cm (8 inches) drawer. However, we have the Veddinge model in white. I’m sure it can be shortened, but I hope the cut won’t be visible from the outside...

IKEA-Experte21 Jun 2015 20:21It should be a good quality saw blade, and I wouldn’t use a jigsaw for that either. The fronts have a bevel on the edges, so the cut will be visible. However, at €6 for the front, it’s worth giving it a try.
