ᐅ Sound insulation for fire-rated doors? Is that possible?

Hello everyone,

I have a (probably silly) question. Our burner (oil heating) in the basement is too loud for us. Is there a way to soundproof the fire-rated steel door leading to the burner from the inside (acoustically)? There are probably many options, but what is allowed, and what do you need to consider?

Thank you all.

If they are non-combustible solutions, why not?

- Improve the seals all around; if necessary, additionally apply something like Tesa Moll (check whether the door is used as an air supply vent—if so, do not apply!)
- Is there a threshold sealing the bottom of the door?
- Apply a layer of bitumen sheets on the inside (to reduce low-frequency noise)
- On top of that, apply a layer of non-combustible egg crate foam mats (to reduce higher-frequency noise)

This should help overall without needing to install a different door.

Thank you very much.

I will then look into those fire-resistant mats.
